DMITRY POLYAKOV
Orchestral & Operatic Conductor
INTRODUCTION VIDEO

ABOUT
Dmitry Polyakov is a Moscow Conservatory-trained orchestral and operatic conductor with international experience across Europe and the United States. His work combines deep score preparation, clear and efficient rehearsal technique, expressive musical storytelling, and a strong ability to inspire both musicians and audiences.
He has conducted and collaborated with orchestras including the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt, La Orquesta Sinfonica de Castello, and others. His festival work includes The Musical Offering, Melodies of the Arctic, Days of Music on the Oder, and the Stars of the XXI Century National Project.
Educated at the Moscow Conservatory, Dmitry’s background includes orchestral conducting, opera conducting, composition, and music education. This broad foundation shapes his approach to repertoire, rehearsal, and performance: structural clarity, emotional intensity, and a deep understanding of orchestral sound.
In the United States, Dmitry served as Chief Conductor of the Scottsdale Philharmonic in Arizona, where his leadership was associated with audience growth, sold-out performances, and strong response from musicians and concertgoers. He has also guest conducted in Massachusetts, including a performance with the Falmouth Chamber Players Orchestra.
His repertoire includes Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Mahler, Mendelssohn, Rachmaninov, Sibelius, Nielsen, Schnittke, and major symphonic, choral-orchestral, and operatic works. His 2023 performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the SPO was featured in The Daily Independent.
Dmitry’s artistic identity is rooted in the belief that great conducting is not only technical leadership, but the ability to reveal the inner life of a score and create a living connection between composer, orchestra, and audience.
